British Wireless For The Blind Fund
Keeping everyone connected
In order to ensure that we can continue to support our beneficiaries during the Covid – 19 crisis, we have launched a brand new, short-term project called BWBFConnect.
BWBFConnect enables a person with sight loss to receive one of our specially adapted devices via a doorstep delivery. The recipient will then receive a phone call from a member of BWBF’s team who will talk them through the set up and answer any questions they may have, ensuring that they get full use of the equipment.
Recipients who meet the charity’s eligibility criteria can choose from a range of devices
Hundreds of devices have already been delivered to blind and visually impaired people across the UK and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
“I live alone and, at the moment I can’t see my grandchildren or my children. But things like the radio help.”
“The radio is a respite from Covid. It gets overpowering when you’re by yourself and can’t talk to anyone.
If you or someone you know is interested in receiving a device, please contact us on 01622 754 757 or sophie@blind.org.uk.
Important information about the BWBFConnect service:
- The recipient will need to be able to take delivery of the device from their doorstep.
- Recipients have the alternate option of waiting for a volunteer visit to set up the radio once the UK government have given us clear and definitive instructions that it is safe to do so
- Delivery will be between 5- 10 working days
Finally, we would like to reassure you and your friends and family that we remain committed to the safety and well-being of our beneficiaries and that of our team.
