Motorists raise funds to support visually impaired in Tamworth

British Wireless has received a grant to support blind and partially sighted people in Tamworth thanks to service station customers.

The donation means we will be able to support more people with sight loss in Tamworth.

It has come from the Moto service station at junction 10 of the M42.

The company has given a grant of £1,000 from its Moto in the Community Trust.

It will be used to provide our radios to people with sight loss who live in the Tamworth area.

BWBF’s Regional Development Manager for Central England, Sophie Wheldon, said: “We are already supporting almost 300 visually impaired people in Staffordshire and from research we have done, we know there are at least another 500 who could benefit from our service.

“We hope this grant will allow us to provide radios to visually impaired people in the Tamworth area who are not currently being supported by us.

“We are so grateful to Moto and to all the motorists whose generous donations allow the company to give out these much needed grants.

“Often people with a sight condition can feel quite isolated but our radios become companions which also provide news, information and entertainment.”

Sophie was presented with the cheque by the service station’s General Manager Ian Kerrington on Wednesday (May 17th).
