About British Wireless for the Blind Fund
British Wireless for the Blind Fund provides free, accessible audio equipment to people who are blind or partially sighted. These radios and audio players are a vital source of news, entertainment, and companionship for thousands of people across the UK.
To make sure every recipient feels supported, we’re looking for friendly volunteers to check in with people after they receive their equipment.
About the role
To provide friendly follow‑up calls to BWBF recipients, ensuring their equipment has arrived safely, they know how to get started, and they feel supported. Volunteers will also help with simple admin tasks such as logging call outcomes.
In this role you'll be responsible for:
- Calling our recipients on the phone to ensure that they have received their equipment and have managed to set it up
- Asking questions to ascertain if the equipment is suitable for them
- Updating our database and informing the team if the recipient requires further support
- Dealing with returns and reporting any issues or problems
Time commitment
We would ask you to support us for two to four hours per week. This is completely flexible and can be arranged so that it fits in around your existing commitments.

- Good listener with a friendly, reassuring manner
- Comfortable using simple online forms or spreadsheets
- Reliable and able to follow procedures

What you'll gain
- Make a meaningful difference to people who may be isolated or vulnerable
- Build confidence in communication and admin skills
- Flexible volunteering you can do from home
- Join a supportive, purpose‑driven charity community
- Travel or phone expenses reimbursed (if applicable)
Location & Time Commitment

- Typically 2–4 hours per week, but completely flexible
