Unlocking local news with TNF
We have worked closely with Talking News Federation (TNF) over many years to make it easy for people living with sight loss to access their local news in audio form.
TNF is an umbrella organisation representing hundreds of 'talking newspapers'. These volunteer-run organisations create audio recordings of local news for people living with sight loss.
This content was traditionally shared with people via a posted USB stick or CD. Since we launched our Speech Talking Newspaper service, people have also been able to access audio from more than 290 local talking newspapers via our Speech Talking Newspaper app and Skill.
In June 2024, we announced that our Speech Talking Newspaper service would be moving into the care of Talking News Federation. At the same time, the Speech Talking Newspaper mobile phone app will be decomissioned.
You can enable the Alexa Skill simply by saying “Alexa, enable Talking Newspaper”.
