Trusts & Foundations Manager

Location: Home based anywhere in the UK, to include regular travel to Maidstone, London and Birmingham.

Reports to: Head of Communications, Marketing & Income

Salary: Dependent on experience

Working hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week (negotiable)

Job purpose:

The Trusts and Foundations Manager will develop and implement a successful trusts and foundations fundraising strategy during an exciting period of organisational transformation. As BWBF undergoes significant changes - including a comprehensive rebranding initiative, this role will be crucial in securing vital funding to support both our ongoing services and new strategic initiatives. The position will manage relationships with grant-making bodies, create compelling funding applications, and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities to support the charity's mission, growth, and transformation. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape funding narratives around our evolving organisation while ensuring sustainable income for our core services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify new trust and foundation funding opportunities
  • Develop and write high-quality funding applications and proposals
  • Manage and nurture relationships with existing trust and foundation supporters
  • Create and maintain a pipeline of applications and reporting deadlines
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders on grant expenditure and impact
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to gather project information and impact data
  • Maintain accurate records of all trust and foundation activities in the CRM system
  • Monitor and evaluate funding success rates and income against targets
  • Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy and annual budget planning

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven track record of securing five and six-figure grants from trusts and foundations
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to create compelling funding proposals
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience in budget development and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of the UK trust and foundation funding landscape
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Ability to interpret and present complex information clearly
  • Experience with CRM systems and database management
  • Understanding of charity governance and best practices in grant management
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a similar role within the charitable sector is essential
