Our strategy & vision

In 2024 we launched a new transformation strategy. Our vision for the future is to be the ‘go to’ organisation for all things audio for people living with sight loss.

By building a deep-seated understanding of the audio needs of people living with sight loss, and by working in partnership with others, we will ensure we are getting the right support to those who need us.

Throughout this period of transformation, our mission, vision and values continue to drive everything we do.

Our transformation strategy

In 2024 we launched a new three-year transformation strategy for BWBF. This new strategy is all about bringing us closer to the community of people living with sight loss who we exist to support so that they are at the heart of all we do.

How will we achieve our strategy

Our strategy focuses on building insight, working with others, and building new support and funding to help us achieve our goals. We will do this by:

Understanding the audio needs of people with sight loss

We will conduct our largest ever study of the audio needs of people living with sight loss. This research will help us gain a deep-seated understanding of the experience of people living with sight loss when accessing audio content. We will explore the frustrations and barriers people of different ages and with different digital skills face when accessing audio. We will then tailor our service and develop new ways of working to address those challenges.

Creating new partnerships

We will join forces with other organisations who share our values, who work closely with people with sight loss, or who have the skills to help our audiences. This includes charities, care homes, technology companies and more. By forging new partnerships we will strengthen the service we can offer, and extend our reach among people living with sight loss.

Mobilising support for our cause

We will work to create a compelling case for support to attract new funders and partners who can offer help in kind. We will be evidence and insight led in all we do and evaluate the success of all our projects. This will ensure that supporters know exactly how their donation is making a real difference to people's lives.
