Audio devices

Explore our range of radios, Alexa devices, children's audio devices and other equipment. We give these to people living with sight loss, free of charge. Find who is eligible.  

Can I get a free audio device?

  • To get one of our devices, you need to be: 

    • resident in the UK 
    • living with sight loss.

    You also need to be receiving one of the following benefits: 

    • Disability Living Allowance (DLA) 
    • Personal Independent (PIP) or Attendance Allowance (AA) 
    • Adult Disability Payment (ADP) 
    • any means-tested benefit 
    • a parent or guardian receiving one of these benefits (if the person receiving the device is under 18).

    Our audio devices are available for people of all ages and our range now includes devices specially selected for children.

  • You can apply for some of our devices directly for yourself using the form on this page - click 'request a device for myself'.

    If you are requesting a device on behalf of a family member or friend - click 'request a device for someone else'.

    If you want one of our Alexa devices or some of our children's devices, you'll need a sight loss or other support professional to complete the form in order to refer you. This could be an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer, rehab worker, doctor, teacher or anyone else in a support role. They should click 'request a device for someone else' and use this form to make the referral.

  • If you think you would benefit from one of our devices that requires a professional referral, but you don't know who can do this for you, please get in touch.

    You contact us on info@blind.org.uk or 01622 754757 and we'll be happy to advise you on getting the referral you need.

  • We want to make sure everyone has the device that will make the biggest difference to their lives. In order to ensure our support reaches all those who need us, we don't give people more than one audio device. If you already have an audio device from us but think something else would suit you better, please complete our request an audio device form explaining the situation. 

    If we replace your device and it's still in good working order we'll arrange for this to be collected and returned to us.

  • If you have an old device in good condition that is no longer required, please get in touch to arrange a collection. 

    If your device is faulty, we ask that you please recycle it on our behalf. 
     
    For all Alexa devices, or if you are unsure if a device should be returned, please get in touch

Amazon Echo Dot

To get this device, you need a sight loss or support professional to complete our application form. The Echo Dot is a smart speaker with Alexa, a digital assistant that can be voice controlled by asking simple questions. For people with sight loss an Alexa device can be a fantastic option as you don't need to use buttons or on-screen controls to use it. Amazon Echo Dot details

Amazon Echo Show

To get this device, you need a sight loss or support professional to complete our application form. The Echo Show is a smart speaker with a screen and powered by Alexa, a digital assistant that can be voice controlled. For people with sight loss an Alexa device can be a fantastic option as you don't need to use buttons or on-screen controls to use it. Amazon Echo Show details

Synapptic USB Player

A powerful USB memory stick playback speaker. Designed for people living with sight loss, this device features high-contrast tactile controls. Ideal for listening to books or other content on memory sticks, or amplifying calls, music and other audio. Synapptic USB Player details

Lemega Pocket DAB/FM Radio

Relish Radio

Relish Radio is an easy-to-use DAB/FM radio with minimal controls. Designed for people with dementia, but also popular among those living with sight loss, this radio includes a large on/off button, preset buttons and volume control. Relish Radio details

Easy Music Player

The Easy Music Player is an easy-to-use DAB radio. Designed for people with dementia, but also popular with people living with sight loss, the Easy Music Player requires just one button to control it. Easy Music Player details

Voxblock starter pack

To get this device, you need a sight loss or support professional to complete our application form. Voxblock is a screen-free, easy-to-use audiobook player, that makes learning and listening, fun and engaging. Our starter pack includes three books and a set of POGS headphones. Micro Speak Plus

My Little Morphée

To get this device, you need a sight loss or support professional to complete our application form. My Little Morphée is a screen-free sleeping device and sleep sound soother designed for babies and young children. The soothing stories and guided meditation sessions generate deep relaxation, enabling children to fall asleep quickly and serenely. My Little Morphée details

Concerto 3

The Concerto 3 is a specially designed for people living with sight loss, featuring large, tactile, high-contrast controls. The Concerto 3 ‘boom-box’ includes DAB/DAB+ and FM radio, with functions to play audio from CDs, cassettes and USB sticks. Concerto 3 details
