2012 Finnish canoe holiday

BWBF has teamed up with a holiday adventure company which is providing a trip for people with sight loss.

British Wireless for the Blind Fund has teamed up with EB Adventures to put together a trip for people who have sight loss.

The unique holiday opportunity is for everyone who has enjoyed the benefits of our sets in their home, but who has difficulty finding an outdoor holiday which caters to their needs.

It has been specifically designed around people who are blind or partially sighted and offers a fully supported seven day canoeing trip in the tranquil outdoor wilderness of the Saimaa Lakes in Finland, one of the most beautiful waterways in the world.

By day, the trip will explore the myriad of inlets, islands and bays of this stunningly beautiful area, listening to the sounds of the lake and wildlife.

By night, camp will be set up on a different island each night. Double Canadian canoes will be used which have space to carry personal belongings, camping equipment and food.

The trip dates are Saturday 7th July to Saturday 14th July 2012 inclusive and it will be led by a very experienced qualified canoe instructor and outdoor specialist. A qualified first-aider will be part of the support staff.

And don’t worry if you have never paddled before. Although you will need to be reasonably physically fit, the paddling is not that demanding – anyone between aged 18 and 85 should be able to manage.

This holiday is not just an opportunity to have an unforgettable experience but will also help raise money for British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF).
