Tonbridge Canoe Club paddle
Members of a canoe club raised money by paddling to Wateringbury.
Members of Tonbridge Canoe Club touring section paddled to Wateringbury in the sunshine.
They completed the journey on Saturday to enjoy a late afternoon supper and drinks at the home of Ben and Frances Fielding, both members of the club.
The 15km paddle took them through seven locks, five with canoe chutes, around Teapot Island and through fields and wooded sections of the River Medway to Wateringbury Marina where they took the canoes out of the water.
They donated £90, which will be used to provide one of our Duet 2 radios on free loan to a blind person in Kent.
Regional Development Manager for the South East, Simon Parsons, attended the event to demonstrate one of our radios and give people the chance to try on various spectacles which simulate different sight conditions.
These helped them understand the need for specially adapted equipment and how our sets can help people with visual impairment.
The event was a great success, helped in part by the lovely weather. It is planned make the paddle an annual event.
