Volunteers to feature in short film

BWBF volunteers are to feature in a short film being put together by students as part of Volunteers’ Week.

 BWBF volunteers and staff are to feature in a film being launched as part of a national initiative.

Two students from Mid Kent College popped into our head office in Maidstone last week to interview our IT administrator Dave who started as a volunteer with us, Sue, who works with our Trusts Officer, and Peter, one of our technical volunteers.

Jake Roach and Sean Cordrey are at the college studying creative media and will be releasing the short film on the first day of Volunteers’ Week – Wednesday, June 1st.

Involve Kent, which aims to maximise the impact of the voluntary and community sector in the county, is working with the college to help produce it.

Involve helped to arrange the filming sessions and is providing on-going support to the students.

The 19-year-olds are creating the film to tell the story of volunteering in the Maidstone and wider Kent area.

It will aim to show the diversity of roles that volunteers are involved in and will help to inform audiences about how volunteering may be relevant and beneficial to their own lives.

The finished product will be played out during the week at Involve’s Volunteer Centre in Maidstone Town Hall and at The Hub which is in The Mall shopping centre in the town.

BWBF CEO Margaret Grainger said: “We are delighted our volunteers were asked to be part of this fantastic Involve and Mid Kent College project.

“Volunteers are a vital part of what we do here at BWBF and, like most charities, we wouldn’t be able to keep providing the service we do without them.

“Volunteers’ Week is an important national celebration of the thousands of selfless people in the UK who give up so much of their time to help others.

“We can’t wait to see the film when it’s released in a few weeks and hope you all enjoy watching it too.”
