Schoolgirl and mum have locks chopped to support British Wireless
A kind-hearted schoolgirl and her mum have had their hair cut to raise money for British Wireless and support another cause.
Isabella Rocco, six, and her mum Adrienn had a total of 21 inches chopped off to support British Wireless for the Blind Fund.
Adrienn is BWBF’s Financial Controller at the charity and the pair were sponsored to go under the chop at Hair Professional in King Street, Maidstone, on Tuesday (January 24th).
Salon owner Anthea Mitchell and stylist Megan Underdown cut and styled their hair for free as it was for charity.
Adrienn had 12 inches cut off and Isabella’s was nine inches long.
Their act will also benefit another charity as the hair they had cut off will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children who have cancer.
Isabella, who is a pupil at the St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Walderslade, said she was a bit nervous about it beforehand but is delighted with her new look.
She said: “I was scared but once I saw how nice mummy looked with her new hair cut I was ready to have mine done too.
“It does look really nice. I’m pleased with it and I’m proud that what we’ve done will raise money for charity and help other children.”
Adrienn, 36, said: “From working at British Wireless, I hear every day about the difference our radios make to those living with sight loss.
“Often they lead really lonely lives and having a radio provides them with news and entertainment, but also with companionship.
“I’d been thinking about getting my hair cut for a while so to be able to get it done and support two charities at the same time has been great.
“I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored me and also Anthea and Megan for giving their time and expertise for free.”
Adrienn has so far raised almost £200 through the haircut and other challenges. To sponsor her, go to www.virginmoneygiving.com and search Adrienn Rocco.
