Treasurer (Trustee)

  • Voluntary - expenses paid
  • Part-Time
  • Remote
  • Volunteer

We're looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees at a genuinely exciting moment. British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) is transforming our services for people with sight loss, and we're in the middle of an ambitious rebrand to match.

We need a sharp financial mind to help us navigate the road ahead and build the foundations for long-term sustainability.

We want someone who will roll their sleeves up and actively shape our financial strategy alongside the Chief Executive and board, bringing rigour, challenge and sound judgement to some real financial challenges. This is a role for someone who gets energised by turning things around, not just maintaining the status quo.

What we're looking for

Someone with strong financial planning and charity financial strategy experience, a hands-on approach, and a genuine commitment to the charity's mission. You don't need a background in the sight loss sector, but you do need to care about what we do and be ready to make a real difference.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading on financial oversight and reporting to the board
  • Working closely with the CEO and Financial Controller to shape long-term financial planning
  • Providing strategic financial input as we grow, evolve and rebrand
  • Chairing the quarterly Finance Sub-Group
  • Supporting the year-end accounts and audit process
  • Helping us build a financially resilient organisation fit for the future

What's involved

Four board meetings per year, one in person and three online, plus a festive get-together and ad hoc support as needed. You'll also chair a quarterly Finance Sub-Group and provide support around the audit and year-end accounts. We're mindful of people's time and will make sure the commitment is manageable for the right person.

Trusteeship is a voluntary role, and we're committed to making it work for the right person.
